SYFY is celebrating April Fools today with an all-day marathon of the Child’s Play franchise (full schedule here), which is helping to set the stage for the upcoming “Chucky” television series that’ll be airing on both SYFY and USA later this year. From creator Don Mancini, the series continues the original franchise’s storyline, and we’ve got a short little taste for ya.

Mancini took to Twitter today to celebrate the SYFY marathon with a brief teaser video for the “Chucky” series, which shows off a script page and reveals the title of the premiere episode.

Unless things change, Episode #1 is titled “Death by Misadventure“! The premiere is written and directed by Mancini, and the series is set to premiere sometime this Fall.

“Chucky” has been described as a “fresh take on the franchise” that’ll “explore Chucky’s character with a depth that is uniquely afforded by the television series format.”

“After a vintage Chucky doll turns up at a suburban yard sale, an idyllic American town is thrown into chaos as a series of horrifying murders begin to expose the town’s hypocrisies and secrets. Meanwhile, the arrival of enemies — and allies — from Chucky’s past threatens to expose the truth behind the killings, as well as the demon doll’s untold origins as a seemingly ordinary child who somehow became this notorious monster.”

From Mancini and Nick Antosca (“Channel Zero”), the known cast for the series includes Brad Dourif, Fiona Dourif, Jennifer Tilly, and Devon Sawa. Stay tuned for more!
