Darkly Humorous Horror Game ‘Fishing Vacation’ Now Available on the Nintendo Switch

After diving a bit into the Saga Anderson character last week, Remedy and publisher Epic Games have released their first “Behind the Scenes” developer diary for Alan Wake 2 that goes further into introducing the co-protagonist for the sequel.

Modelled after and voiced by Melanie Liburd, FBI Special Agent Saga Anderson is part of the exploration of duality in Alan Wake 2. According to Principal writer Clay Murphy, Anderson functions as “a counter-point, like another perspective, in the game that would play off of Alan’s [perspective]”.

“We’re obviously quite aware that the first game came out 13 years ago, so we wanted to make sure that we had a hero character who would bring the perspective of new players,” explained Kyle Rowley, Alan Wake 2‘s Game Director. “We wanted to make sure that new players of the experience would be learning with her through the story.”

Saga Anderson arrives in Bright Falls to investigate a string of ritualistic murders. The case slides into a nightmare when Anderson discovers pages of a horror story, a horror story that starts to come true. Meanwhile, Alan Wake, a lost writer trapped in a nightmare prison beyond our world, writes a dark story to shape reality in a desperate bid to escape. Hunted by an insatiable horror, Wake struggles to retain his sanity and beat the devil at his own game.

Alan Wake 2 is due out for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via the Epic Games Store on October 17.
