Netflix continues to build up its Netflix Games service with the addition of Night School Studio’s narrative-driven supernatural horror adventure game OXENFREE to the service. The studio’s award-winning debut title is available for free to download on iOS and Android devices ad free.

In case you need reminding, players in OXENFREE take on the role of Alex, a bright, rebellious teenager who brings her new stepbrother Jonas to an overnight party on Edwards Island, . The night takes a terrifying turn when the group of friends unwittingly open a ghostly rift spawned from the island’s cryptic past. Players determine every aspect of Alex’s story while exploring Edwards Island through critical dialogue choices.

OXENFREE is such a special game to so many people and launching on Netflix is a really exciting opportunity for us to introduce Alex’s story to even more people – maybe even someone who never thought they’d love playing a game,” said Sean Krankel, co-founder and studio director at Night School Studio.

This news comes on the heels of Night School Studio’s announcement that the sequel, OXENFREE II: Lost Signals, has been pushed back its release date to 2023.

“We owe it to our amazing community to make OXENFREE II: Lost Signals the best game it can possibly be. Seeing your fan art, reading your excited comments, and connecting with you fuels our ambition to make this our best game yet,” reads the announcement. “To make OXENFREE II truly special and add more localizations, we’re moving our release window to 2023.”

OXENFREE II is currently in development for the Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. While you wait, check out Jay and Neil’s thoughts on the game from their hands-on preview from the June 20th episode of the Safe Room Podcast.
