“Castle Rock”: Unofficial Season 3 Audio Drama Turns Up the Heat in Act II [The Losers’ Club Podcast]

Horror

Oh, She Looks Terrible.

Happy July 4th everybody! After a very busy Pride month filled with a great range of films like Creature from the Black Lagoon, Bones, and Excision, we are beyond ready to celebrate the start of July.

To mark the occasion, we’re throwing a giant rager. At the top of the invite list is Adrian Rodriguez from the Slash Her podcast, who comes in to assist with our discussion of queer director Stewart Hendler‘s Sorority Row (2009).

In the film – a remake of the 1982 slasher The House on Sorority Row – the girls of Theta Pi find themselves targeted by a serial killer eight months after a prank left one of their sisters dead. Now the remaining crew, consisting of Final Girl Cassidy (Briana Evigan), bookish Ellie (Rumer Willis), “multicultural” Claire (Jamie Chung), drunk Chugs (Margo Harshman), imposter Maggie (Caroline D’Amore), and head bitch Jessica (Leah Pipes), must survive graduation night, as well as each other’s catty remarks, as they’re picked off one by one.

Episode 132 – Sorority Row (2009) feat. Adrian Rodriguez

It’s Theta Pi time, bitches! We’re throwing a massive party to celebrate Stewart Handler’s 2009 slasher comedy Sorority Row and along for all of the modified tire iron fun is Adrian Rodriguez of the Slash Her podcast, who loves the film as much as Trace.

Joe notoriously hated the film 4 years ago (Trace has the receipts!), but has come around on it. Still, expect plenty of debate about the balance between comedy and horror, particularly when it comes to the killer’s reveal & motivation. We also worship at the altar of Jessica (Leah Pipes), comment on the film’s very non-PC approach to sisterhood and sexual assault, and theorise why audiences hate Rumer Willis’ Ellie.

Plus: why Carrie Fisher should have been the star, Adrian’s Halloween QVC obsession and Joe elaborates on why Chugs is the best.

Cross out Sorority Row!

Coming up on Wednesday: We head over to France to check out queer coming of age film, Raw!
