Bruce Campbell Trolls With Awesome ‘Evil Dead’ Crossover from Faux ‘Doctor Strange’ Sequel Script

Horror

Now that “WandaVision” set the stage for the big screen introduction of the Necronomicon-like Darkhold in upcoming sequel Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness – which is of course being directed by Sam Raimi, a guy who knows a thing or two about evil books – horror fans have naturally been drawing parallels between Raimi’s new film and his feature debut.

We’re of course talking about The Evil Dead, Raimi’s classic horror franchise that similarly played around with an evil book containing spells with the power to unleash sinister darkness. We can only assume darkness will indeed be unleashed in the horror-heavy Multiverse of Madness, but will Raimi be bringing Bruce Campbell along for the ride this time around?

Campbell, who made cameo appearances in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man movies, took to Twitter yesterday (April Fools’ Day, we must mention) to have a little fun with that whole idea.

As you’ll see below, Campbell tweeted an image of a faux page from the Doctor Strange 2 script, wherein Strange takes a trip through the multiverse and ends up at a familiar-looking cabin in the woods. Emerging from the cabin is none other than Ash Williams – or, as the script calls him, “Disheveled Man” – who has a fun interaction with a confused Strange.

“Strange can’t help but notice that the man has a chainsaw where his right hand should be.”

Unfortunately, of course, this was likely nothing more than an April Fools’ joke, but that doesn’t mean Campbell won’t be popping up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the upcoming Doctor Strange sequel. But you probably shouldn’t expect him to be making an appearance as Ash Williams, as Campbell remains pretty dead-set on staying retired from that gig.

In any event, check out Campbell’s April Fools’ prank below. The cruelty of it all…
