However, one inside source claims that one late-night show’s joke especially rubbed her the wrong way. In fact, this might lead to a significant shift in Markle’s relationship with one network in particular.
Saturday Night Live Recently Touched On Current Events Involving The British Royal Family During A ‘Weekend Update’
Meghan Markle originally became known to many as an actress for her work on Suits. However, she would become internationally known through her marriage to Prince Harry in 2018.
However, the two stepped down as working royals in 2020, with the two living in Montecito, California. Over the years, Markle’s life, marriage, and relationship with the royal family have often been given focus in pop culture.
That said, insiders recently claimed that one Saturday Night Live joke concerning the Duchess of Sussex especially ended up really upsetting her. During the “Weekend Update” sketch, Colin Jost discussed King Charles III’s recent visit to the United States.
Jost then claimed that the king would “seek the release of a British hostage being held by an American terrorist.” A photo of Harry and Meghan then popped up on the screen.
The Insider Also Noted A Pattern With The Duchess Of Sussex’s Behavior
As shared by Rob Shuter on his Substack, one insider claimed that “Meghan does not laugh when she feels publicly humiliated. She sees this as deliberate, cheap, and personal — and once she feels mocked, she shuts the door.”
Shuter himself mused that Markle would soon boycott the network, adding, “Meghan Markle has a long memory — and insiders say NBC just landed on her permanent blacklist.” He later added, “Sources say the reaction inside her circle was immediate: NBC is out.”
Shuter also noted that this was a familiar pattern for Markle. As a source also noted, “This is what Meghan does. When she feels attacked, she doesn’t confront — she cuts off access. She distanced herself from Vanity Fair after coverage turned, and now NBC is getting the same treatment.”
Shuter added that those close to Meghan also claim that she saw the comment as more than a joke. Instead, she allegedly saw it as “establishment ridicule dressed up as satire.”
