Kim Kardashian: S*x Tape Settlement Unsealed

Kim Kardashian: S*x Tape Settlement Unsealed
Television

Kim Kardashian became synonymous with her infamous sex tape, which was filmed in 2003. She filmed it alongside her then-boyfriend, Ray J, who is Brandy Norwood’s boyfriend. Yet, the tape was allegedly never supposed to see the light of day. Yet, the same year that Keeping Up With the Kardashians came out, so did the tape.

A monetary settlement between Kim and Ray J was reached a few years back, and the hope was to keep it sealed. That is not happening, but why is that? Keep reading for more details on what a judge had to say.

Kim Kardashian Tried To Block The Release Of Details

After the release of the tape involving Ray J and Kim Kardashian, things got messy. It was all anyone wanted to talk about, and it started to define her career. Fortunately, she gained an immense amount of opportunities as her mother, Kris Jenner, became the ultimate momager. Although the tape was still in the back of everyone’s minds, Kim worked incredibly hard to build a brand away from Ray J and the infamous sex tape.

There was even an episode of The Kardashians where Kim’s estranged husband, Kanye West, was able to get back a hard drive of the footage. She was so thankful, and in 2023, twenty years after the tape was made, Kim and Ray J came to a settlement over the tape. It was worth $6 million, and they agreed to never speak on the tape again. However, Ray J then claimed that Kris and Kim were the ones who released the tapes.

At the same time, he claimed that the mother/daughter duo breached the terms of the settlement when they spoke about the tape on their Hulu show. So, there were no clear winners. Again, although Kris Jenner and Kim Kardashian wanted to keep the details of the settlement private, a judge declined this. They claimed that revealing details “would cause substantial harm to the Kardashians’ privacy interests and undermine the strong public policy interest in favor of settlement agreement.”

The Judge Has Spoken

Per Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Steven A. Ellis, he stated that their claim was “too vague, speculative, amorphous, and unsupported to support the requested sealing order.” However, any account numbers associated with Kim Kardashian, Kris Jenner, and Ray J would not be seen by anyone, which is one win. Fans who saw what happened did not feel bad for Kim Kardashian in the slightest:

  • That tape is how the Kim and her clan became infamous.
  • The film was handed over by a “third party?” Riiiggghhhhtt. Was that “third party” Bruce or Kris? Of course the Kartrashians released it deliberately. Anything for a dollar.
  • Nobody would even know who Kim was without this tape…she shoudl be paying Ray Jay!

Are you shocked that the judge shot them down, or should the details be public? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
