Frank Ocean Shooting Debut Feature Film in Mexico City
Music

Frank Ocean has begun work on his long-rumored directorial debut, Variety reports. He is shooting the independent feature film in Mexico City. David Jonsson, whose acting credits include Alien: Romulus and his breakout feature Rye Lane, will star. Representatives for Ocean are keeping further details under wraps.

In the near-decade since he released Blonde, Ocean has dipped in and out of the public eye. In between periods of silence, he launched Homer, a high-end jewelry line; appeared at the 2021 Met Gala with a creepy doll; made that much-debated, one-night-only Coachella appearance; published a photography book; and previewed bits and pieces of music by proxy via his Blonded Radio show. Some rumored new songs have failed to materialize; his last formal releases were “Dear April” and “Cayendo.”
