Out Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was left scratching her head at a question asked by Fox News’s Peter Doocy at a White House press briefing. Commenters online are saying they believe the question was an attempt to “audition” for the role of press secretary under Donald Trump.

The question? “We know that, today, a week after the election, President Biden and Vice President Harris had a private lunch. How awkward was that?”

Doocy tried to explain why he believes Joe Biden and Kamala Harris aren’t getting along at the moment, despite the lack of evidence that the two are at odds.

Because she kept him at arm’s length and then she lost and now she’s back,” he said, even though Harris and Biden have made several joint appearances recently.

Why would you characterize it as awkward? They have regular lunches. They meet and talk regularly. Why would you call it awkward?” Jean-Pierre said.

“So there’s no weirdness about the way things have unfolded?” Doocy pressed, desperately trying to dredge up some conflict between Biden and Harris.

Did you see them together yesterday as well when they honored our veterans and were together during the day making sure that we didn’t forget the brave men and women that fought for this country?” Jean-Pierre responded, referring to Biden and Harris’ trip to Arlington National Cemetery on Monday for Veterans’ Day.

“The president and vice president had lunch today,” she concluded. “They’ve had lunch many times. They communicate with each other regularly. THey had an opportunity to discuss the last 70 days or so of this administration, how important it is to get things done for the American people, and that’s their focus.”

With Donald Trump announcing several nominations for key positions in his coming administration, people online accused Doocy of “auditioning to be Trump’s press secretary.”
