Warner Bros. Dates ‘Mortal Kombat 2’ & ‘Companion’ For 2025; Zach Cregger’s ‘Weapons’ For 2026

Warner Bros is filling out the 2025, 2026 calendar and beyond. Today, the Burbank, CA studio announced that New Line Cinema’s Mortal Kombat 2 will hit cinemas on Oct. 24, 2025 in Imax, while Drew Hancock’s Companion will kick off on Jan. 10, 2025, also in Imax.

The Jeremy Slater written, Simon McQuoid directed Mortal Kombat 2 comes in the wake of the first film, which was released in 2021 as theaters were reopening, and in day-and-date theatrical plan with streaming service HBO Max. Mortal Kombat opened to $23.3M stateside and ended its run at $42.3M domestic, $84.4M WW. Pic stars Karl Urban, Adeline Rudolph, Lewis Tan, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Tadanobu Asano, Mehcad Brooks, Ludi Lin, Damon Herriman, Tati Gabrielle, Martyn Ford, with Chin Han, Joe Taslim, and Hiroyuki Sanada. Producers are Todd Garner, James Wan, Simon McQuoid, E. Bennett Walsh, Toby Emmerich. The movie, natch, is based on the videogame by Ed Boon and John Tobias.

The Drew Hancock written and directed Companion has a plot that’s under wraps. Cast counts Sophie Thatcher, Jack Quaid, Lukas Gage, Megan Suri, Harvey Guillén, and Rupert Friend. Producers are Raphael Margules, J.D. Lifshitz, Zach Cregger, Roy Lee for the New Line pic.

Zach Cregger’s Weapons will open on Jan. 16, 2026. He wrote and directed this New Line Cinema theatrical release which comes in the wake of his previous low-budget hit Barbarian. Josh Brolin, Julia Garner, Alden Ehrenreich, Austin Abrams, Cary Christopher, with Benedict Wong and Amy Madigan star. Producers are Roy Lee, Miri Yoon, J.D. Lifshitz, Raphael Margules, Zach Cregger.

The Melissa McCarthy voiced feature Margie Claus will open on Nov. 5, 2027 written by Ben Falcone and Damon Jones. Producers on the Warner Bros. Pictures Animation feature are McCarthy, Falcone and Pilar Flynn.

Other RSVPs by Warner Bros on the calendar include a New Line horror title on March 27, 2026; a Warner Bros family event film on Dec. 18, 2026, a New Line movie on Dec. 25, 2026 (moved from Dec. 18, 2026) and a Warner Bros Pictures Animation/Locksmith title on March 26, 2027.
