The Beach Boys are the subject of a comprehensive new book. The Beach Boys by the Beach Boys includes interview material from Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, and Bruce Johnston, with other contributions from Thom Yorke, Lindsey Buckingham, Jimmy Page, Carly Simon, and more. The book also includes previously unpublished photos and other material from the group’s Capitol Records archive. The Beach Boys by the Beach Boys is slated to arrive in 2024 via Genesis Publications, but a specific release date has not yet been announced.

“There’s love in the music and people can relate to the love, regardless of whether you’re 2 years old or 92 years old,” said Wilson in a statement about the project. “For me, music is about love. Love is the message I want to share. I hope people feel that in my music. That makes the hard work worth it.”

The Beach Boys by the Beach Boys is one of several volumes of reading related to the band. In 2015, Kent Crowley published Long Promised Road: Carl Wilson, Soul of the Beach Boys, the Biography, about the group’s co-founding fraternal singer. Wilson has two memoirs, the contested 1991 book Wouldn’t It Be Nice: My Own Story and the more definitive 2016 book I Am Brian Wilson. Love’s memoir, Good Vibrations: My Life as a Beach Boy, also arrived in 2016, a month ahead of Wilson’s book.
