Is “Midnight Kiss” The Queerest Slasher Film Ever Made? [Horror Queers Podcast]

Horror

New Queer’s Eve.

It’s been a pretty wild December, with us covering off-kilter films like the much-maligned Batman & Robin, the not-as-bad-as-you-think Wrong Turn 4: Bloody Beginnings and the Stephen Sondheim and Anthony Perkins-penned murder mystery The Last of Sheila. Now we’re wrapping up the year with a discussion of Carter Smith‘s (The Ruins, Jamie Marks is DeadInto the Dark entry “Midnight Kiss“!

In the film, a group of friends (Augustus Prew, Scott Evans, Lukas Gage, Chester Lockhart, Adam Faison and Ayden Mayeri) gather at a beautiful desert resort on New Year’s Eve, and play a game called Midnight Kiss, as is their tradition. The purpose of the game is for each of them to find someone with whom to start the New Year. When a killer tries to join in, relationships that are already stressed are further tested, and life itself becomes the prize.
