[Watch] Saber Interactive Talks ‘Evil Dead: The Game’ With Bruce Campbell, Along With ‘World War Z: Aftermath’, ‘A Quiet Place’

Saber Interactive recently dropped a nice Christmas treat for those of you wanting more info about their upcoming co-op shooter based on The Evil Dead. Of course, that’s not the only thing, as the December 2021 Showcase video also drops nuggets for those interested in World War Z: Aftermath, and even the upcoming adaptation based on A Quiet Place makes a brief appearance!

Tim Willits, COO for Saber Interactive, kicked the showcase off with news that next year, Aftermath will receive a new update for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series that includes a new game mode referred to as Horde Mode XL. Willits was coy about details, but did say that the new mode will have “hundreds of more zombies” on screen than before.

As for A Quiet Place, Willits reiterated what we already know, saying that that the game will be the game is being developed by iLLOGIKA in Montreal, and is a “single-player, story-driven horror adventure game” set within the same universe as the movies. Sadly, it seems we’ll have to wait until next year for more info on that one.

The main draw, of course, is Evil Dead: The Game, which is set to come out next year. Willits sat down with The Game Awards mastermind Geoff Keighley and the man himself, Bruce Campbell, to discuss the title.

Right off the bat (and for those who didn’t already know), when asked by Keighley why he decided to come back in video game form rather than another film, Bruce stated that it was due to his age and time. “I hung up my jersey as Ash [and] hung up the chainsaw because I can’t physically do that crap anymore. You know, I’m like an old stunt guy.” That being said, Bruce reassures fans that the voice is still there, as it just wouldn’t be Ash without Bruce.

When Saber first approached Bruce about the project, Bruce said that he knew it was time for another game. According to him, the previous three main Evil Dead games were “rudimentary, but they got better” with each iteration. With this new project, Bruce states that the new game “can run with the big dogs.”

As far as development goes, Willits stated that the game is “in the homestretch” to meet its February 2022 release. “You know, what’s really exciting about this game is it has so many different aspects to it. You’ve got your asymmetrcial PvP, you can play with your friends, and even have a couple of side missions where you can play by yourself.”

Rather than spoil the whole interview, you can check out the timestamped portion below. Evil Dead: The Game is currently being developed for PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, the Xbox Series, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. The game based on A Quiet Place is currently in development for a 2022 release. World War Z: Aftermath is out now on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
