Kim Kardashian opened her debut as Saturday Night Live (SNL) host with a sizzling series of jokes about her famous family members, including Caitlyn Jenner.

The reality TV star took to the SNL stage in a bright pink bodysuit as she geared up for her opening monologue. She even poked fun at herself, telling the crowd she was “surprised to see me here too”.

The social media star also joked about her mom’s fondness for giving her daughter’s names that begin with the letter K (Khloe, Kourtney, Kylie and Kendall), and said she was lucky not to have been given “Karen” as a name.

She also suggested for a second that she would be running for president of the US next election, alluding to her estranged husband Kanye West’s failed presidential run and also Caitlyn Jenner’s bid to be a politician.

“Now I know we’re divided as a country, but I would love America to come together, which is why I’m here to announce that I’m running for… I’m just kidding guys,” Kim said. “I’m not running for president – we can’t have three failed politicians in one family.”

Jenner conceded in the recall race for governor of California last month after accumulating a meagre percentage of votes. West ended his presidential run last November after collecting just 60,000 votes out of an estimated total of 160 million, according to the BBC.

After more barbs thrown at her family, Kim ended her monologue by addressing her split from West with yet another burning quip. Kim told the audience that she married the “best rapper of all time” and described him as a “talented legit genius who gave me four incredible kids”.

“When I divorce him, you have to know it came down to one thing: his personality,” she declared.

Viewers greatly enjoyed the monologue with many saying Kim “nailed” the jokes.

The show closed with Kim Kardashian standing alongside her mother Kris and sister Khloe and the rest of the SNL cast. Kim thanked her mom and sister for their support, adding “thank you to Kanye and the rest of my family for being such good sports”.
