Screen Media is bringing an extended version of the definitive Ghostbusters doc, Cleanin’ Up the Town: Remembering Ghostbusters, to VOD platforms this coming Friday.

The documentary recounts the story behind the classic 1984 comedy that starred Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver and Bill Murray.

Ernie Hudson takes center stage in this exclusive clip from Anthony Bueno‘s documentary, recalling the frustration of his character, Winston Zeddemore, being cut back so drastically from his originally scripted incarnation. As Hudson has explained over the years, Zeddemore originally appeared early on in the movie, but those plans changed after he came on board.

“Somebody dropped the script off… it was actually the night before we started shooting,” Hudson explains in the below clip. “The character originally comes in on page 6, now he’s on page 68. Which is really hard for me to sort of come to grips with. I’ve wrestled with that a lot.”

“It started off being a little frustrating, but it all worked out,” Hudson adds.

The doc opened in limited theaters on October 1 and comes to VOD platforms October 5.
