Zack Snyder’s zombie movie Army of the Dead is getting two different follow-up projects, including a prequel anime series titled Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas.” The other project is a live-action prequel movie titled Army of Thieves, which had its own panel at the ongoing virtual Comic-Con@Home tonight. The prequel movie will be coming to Netflix this Fall.

“We really like the idea of the fact that it was set at a time where the zombies existed in the world, but it wasn’t a zombie film. Who’s done a prequel where it’s a different genre? To me, this is more romantic-comedy heist film than anything else,” producer Deborah Snyder teased during the panel, confirming that Thieves definitely is *not* a zombie movie.

You can watch the movie’s full 30-minute Comic-Con@Home panel below, which includes the very first official footage from the Zack Snyder-produced Army of Thieves!

Matthias Schweighöfer directed Army of Thieves, a prequel movie that will center on his character that we first met in Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead. His name is Dieter.

In Army of Thieves

“Small-town bank teller Dieter gets drawn into the adventure of a lifetime when a mysterious woman recruits him to join a crew of Interpol’s most wanted criminals, attempting to heist a sequence of legendary, impossible-to-crack safes across Europe.”

Nathalie Emmanuel, Ruby O. Fee, Stuart Martin, Guz Khan, Jonathan Cohen, and Noémie Nakai star alongside Matthias Schweighöfer in Army of Thieves.

A proper sequel to Army of the Dead is also reportedly in early development.
