Adam Wingard in Talks to Direct Another Monster Movie for Legendary’s MonsterVerse!

Horror

Fresh off the box office success of Godzilla vs. Kong, THR is reporting that Adam Wingard (V/H/S, You’re Next, The Guest, Blair Witch) is re-teaming with Warner Bros. and Legendary for their next MonsterVerse movie, which is big news because we had previously been unsure if the MonsterVerse would even be continuing beyond this year’s mashup fight film.

THR reports, “The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Legendary is quietly taking steps to stretch the series into one or more installments, entering early talks with Godzilla vs. Kong director Adam Wingard to return for another round of monster-on-monster action.”

The site adds, “In fact, one possible title being floated internally? Son of Kong.”

The final moments of Godzilla vs. Kong suggested that we could soon be seeing the continuing adventures of Kong, who has found himself a new home in the Hollow Earth. And it sounds like Legendary is indeed looking to bring Wingard back to continue that particular storyline, though that could of course change as time goes on. Stay tuned for more as we learn it!

Godzilla vs. Kong is the fourth film in the MonsterVerse, which kicked off with Godzilla in 2014 and continued with Kong: Skull Island in 2017 and Godzilla: King of the Monsters in 2019.
