Taylor Swift Accuses Donald Trump of Dismantling The Postal Service

Taylor Swift sent a message to her 86.9 million Twitter followers regarding President Donald Trump and what appears to be his newest target, the United States Postal Service.

“Trump’s calculated dismantling of USPS proves one thing clearly: He is WELL AWARE that we do not want him as our president. He’s chosen to blatantly cheat and put millions of Americans’ lives at risk in an effort to hold on to power,” Swift, whose new album Folklore is currently ranked number one on Billboard’s 200, wrote on Saturday.

She continued, “Donald Trump’s ineffective leadership gravely worsened the crisis that we are in and he is now taking advantage of it to subvert and destroy our right to vote and vote safely. Request a ballot early. Vote early.”

The two tweets had over 1 million cumulative likes by Sunday morning.

This past week has been one of confusion and mixed messages regarding the USPS. As there is still no defined end to the coronavirus pandemic, more voters are interested in mail options than in previous years. But it would appear as if President Trump does not want funding to go to the already strained service.

Negotiations with Democrats for an additional coronavirus stimulus package have stalled due to $25 billion marked for the USPS.

On Thursday he went on Fox Business to suggest that even with that funding, they still won’t be able to handle universal mail-in voting.

Trump has also repeatedly stated that he feels mail-in voting is dangerous. “Mail ballots, they cheat,” he said in early August, according to The New York Times. “Mail ballots are very dangerous for this country because of cheaters. They go collect them. They are fraudulent in many cases. They have to vote. They should have voter ID, by the way.”
