Today (April 20), Mike Dean, the producer/multi-instrumentalist known for his work with Kanye West and Travis Scott, has released a new instrumental mixtape titled 4:20. “I have always had this idea that I wanted to release my own music on the date 4/20,” Dean explained in a press release. “Without my usual musical collaborators, I used the self-isolating experience to improvise on my synthesizers. I felt like I was inside AND in space, I want to share where my head is at these days. This album is almost entirely comprised of the music I created in one take via live streams on Instagram.” Listen to Mike Dean’s 4:20 below (via Platoon).
4:20 includes a suite called “The Eighth Night.” Earlier this year, Moog Music went to Mike Dean’s L.A. home studio to capture the creation of the song, which Dean made using only the Moog Grandmother. Check that out below, too.
