South African actress forced to come out as a lesbian after being publicly outed by a newspaper

A South African soap opera actress has been forced to publicly come out as a lesbian after a local newspaper outed her.

Letoya Makhene confirmed that she is a lesbian on Twitter after South Africa’s Sunday World newspaper publicly outed her.

The newspaper ran a headline that read: “Letoya lesbian lover revealed”. Makhene shared an image from the newspaper on Instagram and wrote: “Well, it was only a matter of time before the world found out about us.”

She tagged her girlfriend and wrote: “Here’s to our beautiful future together, my love.”

South African actress Letoya Makhene came out as a lesbian on Instagram after a newspaper outed her.

Her girlfriend replied to the Instagram post and said they are in a “peaceful place” together.

“Being with you really makes me feel peaceful and content. I really don’t want to hear what people have to say. The only thing that matters to me right now is YOU… it’s US.”

She added: “I LOVE YOU TOYA.”

Well, it was only a matter of time before the world found out about us.

The news appears to have come as a surprise to some fans of the actress, singer and television personality. Before coming out as a lesbian, Makhene was married to a man and had three children with him.

After they separated, she was in a relationship with another man, who she had another child with, before she met her current girlfriend.

Many LGBT+ people have welcomed Makhene to the LGBT+ community since she came out publicly.

The couple reportedly met in February and their relationship has grown quickly.

The couple have reportedly grown close in a relatively short space of time and they are currently self-isolating together in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Makhene’s girlfriend Lebo Keswa revealed on Twitter that htey met in February while they were celebrating her grandmother’s birthday.

She also shut down homophobic trolls who criticised their relationship.

“Opinions, perceptions, he said, she said, blah, blah, blah, does not define or determine our love for each other,” she wrote.

“For all I care, let them eat cake. She’s my love and that’s all that matters.”
