Single Review: PondHawks: “Afraid of Love”
Music

Upon hearing “Afraid of Love” most recent single released by the Chicago duo, The PondHawks, I immediately fell in love with the introduction, and electro harmonic melody followed by the somewhat jazzy/poppy (not absolutely certain how to label the genre), remainder of the song. It had a calming affect on the rest of my afternoon yet the melody kept respecting itself in my head.

Undoubtedly different than your everyday song with the haunting lead vocals by Mario and the exhilarating harmonies by Jorie, it was definitely a very creative endeavor. They lyrics are about being afraid to put your emotions out there and try love…or are they? There is a surprising and intriguing twist to this song that one just doesn’t expect. Although not exactly danceable it’s worth including on a romantic playlist.

After reading up on this duo I was surprised to discover that their name was some sort of dragon fly which I thought to be unique in itself. I also discovered  that their loyal fan base grows bigger everyday and I can see why. Their full sound (for a duet) is a well rounded musical experience, most likely Beatle influenced. Having listened to more of their music I came to the conclusion that each tune was remarkably different than the last. Keep up the good work PondHawks and I believe you will absolutely make your mark within the music industry!
