Donald Trump has called for Pete Buttigieg to be “impeached” after he endorsed Joe Biden following his own exit from the Democratic race.

In a bizarre tirade at a campaign rally in Charlotte, North Carolina, Trump hit out at Buttigieg and senator Amy Klobuchar, who has also pulled out of the race, and said they had “made a deal” with Biden.

“Mayor Pete Buttigieg, he quit last night and then I hear a senator from a state we’re going to win, she dropped out,” Trump said.

Donald Trump slammed Pete Buttigieg and said he had ‘made a deal’ with Joe Biden.

“Sounds like they made a deal. They both supported Sleepy Joe. You know why? They made a deal.”

“No good. Quid pro quo. They made a deal. Impeach them. They should be impeached,” he added.

Klobuchar is a sitting senator and cannot be impeached. Meanwhile, Buttigieg, while referred to as “Mayor Pete” by Trump, is actually a former mayor and is not in office.

His comments came after gay candidate Pete Buttigieg announced on Sunday night that he was quitting the presidential race after a disastrous performance in the South Carolina primary.

Just a day later, he made an appearance in Dallas where he officially endorsed fellow centrist Democratic candidate Biden.

Sounds like they made a deal. They both supported Sleepy Joe. You know why? They made a deal.

He said Biden could “restore the soul” of the nation as president as well as restore “dignity to the White House”.

“I want you to know how unbelievably and unfailingly decent I have known vice president Biden to be,” he said.

“He is somebody of such extraordinary grace and kindness and empathy.

“I’m looking for a president who will draw out the best in each of us,” he added.

“We have found that leader in vice president, soon to be president, Joe Biden.”

Buttigieg said he will do everything in his power to ensure that the next president of the United States is a Democrat.

In his exit speech on Sunday night, Buttigieg paid a heartfelt tribute to his husband Chasten.

“To the guy who took a chance on a first date with somebody all the way in South Bend, Indiana and never looked back, Chasten I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you,” he said.

He added: “Tonight, I am making the difficult decision to suspend my campaign for the presidency. I will no longer seek to be the 2020 Democratic nominee for president, but I will do everything in my power to ensure that we have a new Democratic president come January.”
