Rising R&B Superstar Ian Guerin has been elevating his creativity during this time of isolation. His single “Chapter II” has been rocking the planet thus far and his album “Irreplaceable” remains “Irreplaceable.”
Ian was kind enough to share some questions and answers that were somewhat personal and intimate to him while preparing to rerun to the world with the rest of us…..
If you were the new President of America what would your first command be?
A decree to make companies make renewable energy a priority & one to make animal cruelty a felony that requires mandatory detention for at least 24 hours in all states. Something I’d call “Planet First Plan.”
Do you think that music has the power to change the world?
Yes, because it moves emotions. All humans are ruled by desires & emotions & a good emotional move can make people with the means & the voice to take actions.
These people are usually aspirational & have the infrastructure to lead by example or to move those same emotions on others so they follow said lead. That triggers a domino effect that creates a natural change so yes. Most definitely yes.
You have been doing some cool internet appearances, what do you like best about them?
Being able to show people a good time. Social distancing has taken a toll of different levels on all of us, so having the chance to sing to people, & have the both of us forget our worries for a moment is fresh air. It’s an escapism. For a part of my day I get to do what I love & recharge my vibe. It’s truly cathartic. I love that we help each other shake the stress away. When I read comments like “we are singing with you”, that’s a dose of inner harmony right there.

During this crazy weird time that we are all going through, how creative have you been?
Very! My mind is a busy place. I’ve written a lot of music that has come mainly from introspection.
I’ve had a lot of realizations & come to terms with many aspects of my life—& have been fortunate enough to be quarantining with my sister & her boyfriend who are part of my team so we’re conceiving a lot while the music flows from every corner of my mind & soul at all times of the day.
I can’t wait to get back to the studio to lay it all down & put it out for people to hear.
What is your best quality……what is your worst?
My best quality is probably my attention to detail. I read once that the devil is in the details & took that to heart to be my best. I’m one who notices what you like & don’t without you having to tell me. I’m one to see right through a situation professional or personal or the one to bring home that meal you like—& that I know you like—cause you mentioned it once in conversation. Attention to detail makes you a perfectionist & helps you thrive personally & professionally so I’m thankful to be that way.
My worst has to be I tend to get depressed easily & shut down. I take a lot of things personally, so once something hurts, I have a hard time letting it go even though I don’t stop moving forward. I don’t hold grudges, but I hurt in silence for longer than I should.
You found a magic lamp, rubbed it and out came the genie…what are your 3 wishes and don’t waste them?
1. I wish to provide for my parents, my sister & immediate family so they’re all happy & peaceful.
2. I wish to be seen by the world as I envisioned since I was 5.
3. I wish to have peace of mind, to live my best life & to be the best version of myself.
