Jon Hassell’s Friends and Family Launch GoFundMe

A GoFundMe has been set up for composer and trumpeter Jon Hassell. His friends and family write on the page, “Now, at 83, because of long-term health issues, Jon is in a dire position and needs financial assistance to ensure a safe and sustainable living situation going forward.” The note continues, “As Jon is in the highest risk group for COVID-19, the urgency of his condition has become even more acute in recent weeks.”

Brian Eno, who collaborated with Hassell on projects including 1980’s Fourth World Vol. 1: Possible Musics, writes, “Jon is going through hard times now. I feel that many of us owe him a debt of gratitude, so perhaps making a contribution to this fund is a way we can thank him.” Donate and read more at GoFundMe.

Earlier this year, Jon Hasell reissued his 1977 solo debut Vernal Equinox. In 2019, he released Listening to Pictures (Pentimento Volume One), his first new album in nine years.
