Joy Behar has been missing in action from The View, and fans have taken notice. The co-host usually moderates the Hot Topics table on Fridays, and without her there, things seemed a little tamed down from usual for the ladies. With Joy gone, Whoopi Goldberg made a rare Friday appearance, and while her appearance was welcomed, fans still wondered where Joy was.
Now, there is concern that Joy might be gone permanently from the daytime talk show. Here is what you need to know about Joy Behar’s absence and when she might return to The View.
Where Is Joy Behar From The View?
Joy Behar is one of the longest-running co-hosts on The View, working there with Barbara Walters in the show’s early days. Joy might be 82, but she shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. However, fans have shown concern since she has missed several shows recently. Many wonder if she will ever be back.
The truth is that Joy Behar is taking time off from the daytime talk show for another venture close to her heart. Joy wrote the stage play My First Ex-Husband, which debuted off-Broadway in January 2025. When the show began, Joy was in it in January and left it to other women to carry the load. However, Joy returned to the stage for three days in April. This is why she missed The View episodes.
Her last appearance on the show was on April 9. Her shows ran from April 11 to April 13.
Of course, this is nothing new. When Joy Behar recently substituted for Whoopi Goldberg, many fans thought Whoopi was leaving the show. It almost seems that whenever a host takes a break for any reason, fans come out in droves and start asking if their time on The View has ended.
When Will Joy Behar Return To The View?
Joy Behar should be back on The View next week. This week, during her absence, Whoopi Goldberg, Alyssa Farah Griffin, Sara Haines, Ana Navarro, and Sunny Hostin worked the show without Joy.
Joy Behar was back on The Weekend View, which streams on ABC News Live on Saturdays and Sundays. Whoopi claimed that Joy was “under the weather” (via Decider), but she was also performing her stage show, which was likely the real reason.
Later this month, Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg might also be absent. Whoopi will join Joy for a one-time performance of My First Ex-Husband. Their joint performance will occur during a matinee showing on Wednesday, April 30, at 2 p.m./EST.
