In a recent press briefing, Donald Trump was speaking about the war in Iran when he mentioned the Strait of Hormuz, a critical oil shipping waterway that Iran has used as a bargaining chip in retaliation for the U.S. attacks, sparking a massive disruption in the global oil supply chain.

Trump seemed utterly blindsided when Iran first cut off access to the Strait, which tracks with his recent comment declaring, “The famous Strait of Hormuz, nobody ever heard of, but that is some big money machine, I’ll tell you what.”

Many have taken the moment as Trump admitting he had not even heard of the pivotal passageway until he waged the war. Folks on social media have drawn comparisons to the moment the president claimed not many people know there is a “b” at the end of the word “dumb,” yet again seeming to admit it was really just he who didn’t know that.
