A queer family has taken TikTok by storm for their beautiful and enduring love story.
Shaye and Amanda Scott got married in the Mormon Church in 2012. Ten years and three kids later, Shaye came out as a trans woman and began to transition. Today, the couple is still going strong (even renewing their vows in 2024), and their three kids are loved, accepting, and deeply connected to them.

“Trans people are so brave,” she says, “and though the world often misunderstands them, when you see them up close, they’re so easy to love.”
The couple has shared their life story on Instagram, along with their adorable relationship with their children.
In one particularly moving video, Shaye speaks with her 10-year-old about her transition. He tells her, “I think our relationship got better. It didn’t really change that much.”
“They actually act really kind about it,” he said of his friends. “They support me and never say anything rude about it.”
“You shouldn’t be scared,” he told other kids about having a trans parent. “They will always be the same, and they’ll still love you and all that, and I think that you still should love them.”
The family’s entire TikTok presence is filled with endless joy and love, and serves as a great example of not only how queer families thrive but also how simple it can be to accept trans loved ones unconditionally.
