Michelle Obama doesn’t find all of husband Barack Obama’s traits particularly becoming.
In fact, she shared one of her pet peeves when it comes to the former president.
“I got this husband who’s like, when it’s time to leave, it’s three o’clock, he’s getting up and going to the bathroom!” the former first lady told brother Craig Robinson on the first episode of their IMO podcast, out March 11. “And I was like, ‘Dude, dude, three o’clock departure means you’ve done all that,’ you know? Don’t start looking for your glasses, you know, at the three o’clock departure.”
Referring to his brother-in-law’s Hawaii upbringing, Craig quickly responded, “He was on that island time.”
Michelle admitted that the A Promised Land author’s punctuality has “improved over 30 years of marriage,” but he had to “adjust to what ‘on time’ was” for her.
She and her brother agreed that when they were growing up, “on time was late,” and she has tried to instill that in her and the 44th president’s daughters—Sasha, 23, and Malia, 26.
“If they’re doing anything with me,” she continued, “they are early.”
