The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” has been named the new No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 song of all time, surpassing Chubby Checker’s 1960 hit “The Twist” with 90 weeks on the singles chart.

Released in late 2019, the After Hours single hit No. 1 in 2020 and stayed atop the charts for four weeks. It would go on to set records for most weeks in the Top Five (43 weeks), Top 10 (57 weeks), and Top 40 (86 weeks).

Earlier this month, the Weeknd shared two high-profile collaborations—“One Right Now” with Post Malone, replete with a video featuring a bloody shootout between the two artists, and “La Fama,” a bachata duet with Rosalia in which the Weeknd sings in Spanish and Mexican character actor Danny Trejo makes a cameo in the video. Yesterday he announced that he had cast Troye Sivan and TV on the Radio’s Tunde Adebimpe in his forthcoming HBO drama The Idol.
