Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Have Videographer Following Them Around NYC

Pop Culture
It could be for an upcoming Netflix documentary, a report says.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle brought a cameraperson to document their recent excursion through New York City, Page Six reports, and the footage could be for “a rumored Netflix documentary about their lives.” Though such a project is unconfirmed, the two signed a deal with Netflix last year to produce various programming, including documentaries.

The mysterious videographer, whom Page Six helpfully circled in red, can be seen filming the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in several photos. Page Six also notes that Harry “appeared to be sporting a mic” when he visited Melba’s in Harlem. While there, the couple gave $25,000 to the soul food restaurant’s employee relief fund, and Harry ate chicken and waffles for the first time. He “remarked it was delicious,” a spy said.

The pair also apparently towed a photographer in New York, and Page Six reports that “they have also been collecting footage for the archives of their Archewell foundation,” their nonprofit, according to sources. With Netflix, the duo’s production company has thus far announced an animated series and a docuseries on the Invictus Games, which Harry founded.

Filming aside, it appears Harry and Meghan’s New York trip has been productive. They discussed global vaccine equity with public health leaders, including Chelsea Clinton, and promoted this issue at Global Citizen Live on Saturday, where Meghan said everyone on Earth “has a fundamental right to get this vaccine.” They visited the 9/11 Memorial and met with, among others, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and New York Governor Kathy Hochul. And they visited young students at P.S. 123 in Harlem, donating garden boxes and other items, according to Vogue

Such benign and charitable actions did not prevent British tabloids from criticizing the pair, as Business Insider pointed out, for everything from their body language to Meghan’s jewelry. Similar critique, the outlet observed, was not leveled at Prince William and Kate Middleton when they undertook an equivalent trip.
